Bio

Tosan Evbuomwan is no longer in the NBA — he signed a multi-year deal with FC Barcelona in the Spanish Liga ACB and EuroLeague in July 2026 — but his NBA run is still one of the most remarkable in recent British basketball: the league's only Ivy League product, who went completely undrafted in 2023 and fought his way in anyway. In August 2026 he earned his first call-up to the Great Britain senior men's national team.

Beginner Story

Evbuomwan grew up in Newcastle, focused on basketball at 14 after trying soccer, rugby, and track, and came through the Newcastle Eagles' academy system before earning a scholarship to Princeton — a route through elite US academics rather than a traditional basketball factory. He won Ivy League Player of the Year in 2022 and led Princeton to a Sweet 16 as a 15-seed in 2023, then went completely undrafted. What followed was a genuinely unglamorous 18 months: 10-day and two-way contracts across four different NBA franchises, a two-way deal with the Knicks that ended in a January 2026 waiver, a stop with the Maine Celtics, and finally a two-way deal with Charlotte — whose G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm, he led to the 2026 G League Championship, winning Finals MVP along the way. Charlotte waived him that July. Most players' story would end there. His continued: FC Barcelona signed him weeks later, and a month after that, Great Britain called him up for the first time. Undrafted, waived twice, and still building toward a bigger goal than the one that got away.
