Hoop Britain is an independent, open national discovery directory for British basketball. Our mission is to make finding a club, an outdoor court, or a weekend fixture effortless for players, parents, and supporters anywhere in the UK.
Why Hoop Britain Exists
Basketball is one of the most played team sports in the United Kingdom, particularly among young people and in diverse urban communities. Yet finding where to play has historically been frustratingly fragmented:

Dozens of independent regional leagues each operate separate websites, making cross-county discovery nearly impossible.
Hidden Courts
Hundreds of community outdoor courts lack basic data on whether hoops are maintained, lit at night, or free to access.
Closed Systems
Official registration systems often sit behind logins, without a unified public search engine for local clubs.
Data Sources & Provenance
We maintain an honest, transparent policy about where our data comes from and how it is verified:
Aggregated across official national federation directories (Basketball Scotland, Basketball Wales, Basketball Northern Ireland) and 31 verified regional leagues across England (spanning London, Greater Manchester, West Midlands, Yorkshire, Tyne & Wear, Norfolk, Sussex, Wessex, and more).
Courts marked with a green checkmark (✓) are verified directly via OpenStreetMap (ODbL) community tags — confirming real hoop count, court surface, and floodlighting. Unchecked courts reflect initial location heuristics and are subject to ongoing community verification.
All 10 Men's and 10 Women's professional franchises. Investor intelligence is cross-referenced against filed accounts at Companies House and Charity Commission records, with every financial figure explicitly tagged by evidentiary basis (Audited vs Estimated).

Club contact listings are restricted to official club functional email addresses (e.g. info@club.com, secretary@club.com) or verified public club websites.
