Temi Fagbenle

Bio

Temi Fagbenle has been the standard-bearer for British women in the WNBA for a decade — still, as of 2026, the only British player to win a WNBA Championship (Minnesota Lynx, 2017). After stints with the Indiana Fever (2024) and the Golden State Valkyries (2025), she signed a reported $1 million one-year deal with the expansion Toronto Tempo for 2026, one of the largest contracts a British player has landed in the league's history, and is the team's starting center.

Beginner Story

Fagbenle's family moved to London when she was two, and she started playing basketball at Haringey Angels in North London — a grassroots club, not an elite academy — before returning to the US at 15 for Blair Academy in New Jersey. Drafted 35th overall by Minnesota in 2016, she went on to win national championships across five countries — the USA, the UK, Poland, Italy, and Czechia — plus a EuroCup with the London Lions as team captain, making her one of the most well-traveled and successful British basketball players of either gender, on top of the 2017 WNBA title that remains, uniquely, hers alone.
